Proofreading

It can be easy to become lost in your thoughts when writing an essay. A pair of fresh eyes can offer you a different perspective, helping you to see your essay in a new light to progress.

In the last nine years, I have proofread academic works from across the humanities at GCSE, A-Level, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels. These subjects include: English Literature, English Language, History, Extended Project Qualification, Film, Drama, Sociology, and Politics. My students, across all educational levels, have seen their marks increase by an average of at least one grade upon enlisting my proofreading services.

This work is not limited to academia: I have also proofread work for professionals, from guiding the wording on a website for a law firm to helping form company policy documentation; alongside offering assistance on sculpting CV’s, cover letters, and personal statements.

How it works:

Upon receiving your request, I will send you a form asking you to fill out the specific areas that you require assessing on your essay. This can include flow, narrative structure, analysis, and bibliography. In addition, all proofreading will look at the fundamentals of writing, including: spelling, punctuation, grammar, paragraphing, consistency in language and terminology, and formality. Alternatively, you can download the form at the bottom of the page and email a completed version back to me:

Once returned, I will give you a brief call to discuss your project; aiming to deliver this back to you within 72 hours. I will provide feedback in two ways: written in-depth feedback on the areas you have highlighted, and comments at the side of your essay relating to the fundamentals of writing.

If desired, I will phone you to discuss your essay and the next steps. Furthermore, if you would like sessions – either on a one-off or rolling basis – to work on flagged areas, this will be offered at a discounted rate.

Price points:

My fees are currently £15 per 1000 words.

If a 24-hour turnaround is required, the rate increases to £20 per 1000 words.

For existing students enlisted in my tuition, and for returning or rolling proofreading students, this will be offered at a discounted rate to be discussed.
